Sleep Strategies for Team-Sport Athletes after Sleep Loss


Many elite athletes will experience sleep restriction due to factors such as training or competing late at night, travelling or intensified periods of competition such as competing multiple times a week 🛩


These factors can increase stress and therefore impact, cognition, onset of fatigue, recovery from exercise and subsequent performance 📉


With these common issues in elite sport it is essential to employ strategies to overcome sleep loss and attenuate the performance decline, especially in the lead up to competition 🏆


While these recommendations are primarily derived from studies on team-sport athletes, it is likely that these strategies would be beneficial to any athlete undergoing some form of sleep deprivation 🚴
